Kausthub Desikachar: TKV Desikachar’s students “divisive,” “territorial,” “failed to understand the spirit of the teachings”

From Kausthub Desikachar’s email dated February 14, 2018:

“However, by the 1990s Viniyoga came to be recognized as a style of Yoga, rather than a tradition of teaching. Furthermore, many of Sri TKV Desikachar’s students became divisive and failed to understand the spirit of the teachings. They had become territorial about where they taught, and this caused division amongst them.”

In a broad stroke, Kausthub claims that “many” of the now senior students of TKV Desikachar were “divisive” and they “failed to understand the spirit of the teachings.”

So self-designated “modern master” Kausthub Desikachar is the only one who has truly understood the teachings of TKV Desikachar and Krishnamacharya? All hail the king.

And with sublime irony, continuing to display no awareness of his own actions, Kausthub states, “they had become territorial about where they taught, and this caused division amongst them.”

In the entire history of the tradition of Desikachar and Krishnamacharya, is there a more territorial and divisive teacher than Kausthub Desikachar? You know… the only one who trademarks yoga teachings in as many territories as possible, threatens other teachers with legal action, and carries an indefensible and unresolved history of numerous reports of outright sexual abuse?

And later in his email, Kausthub accuses others of being disingenuous and negative!

The irony of Kausthub Desikachar’s email would be amusing, if it were not for the damage his actions cause.
